Warrandyte State Park Hike (Blue Tongue Bend and Stane Brae Track 7km)

Hi Playfitters! We have arranged a morning hike at the Warrandyte State Park

Details are as follows:

When: Saturday 19th April, 11:00am till 1.45pm (Easter Weekend)

What: A bush walk starting from the Jumping creek reserve carpark (approximately 2 hours / 6.9km) this is a circular trail with some beautiful changing scenery with a large grey kangaroo population, followed by picnic and drinks. We will provide platters of Sandwiches , sushi, fruit, etc., and non-alcoholic drinks.

Where: Jumping Creek Reserve-Public Parking. Blue Tongue Bend an Stane Brae Track, Wonga Park VIC 3115 If you need help with transport, let us know and we can organise a car pool or two.

The address for the carpark entrance is 220 Jumping Creek Road , Wonga Park

The carpark is at the end of that road (just keep driving till you get to the end of the road)

Price: $13 per person to cover platters and non-alcoholic drinks.

Note this is an option you are welcome to bring your own lunch.

We are excited to invite you to the 2024 Playfit Christmas Party and Player Awards!

Here's the low-down:

Location? The Railway Hotel Windsor (29 Chapel Street, Windsor), NEW SPACE UPSTAIRS DECK

When? Saturday, 23rd November from 5.30pm -11pm

What's happening? A night of frivolity and relaxation to cap off another great year of Playfit.

What’s the dress up theme? This year’s dress up theme is TBC. As usual, there’ll be an award for whoever is voted Best Dressed! Dressing up is encouraged, but is just for some fun and isn’t mandatory, so don’t feel like you can’t come if you don’t have a costume.

Awards, prizes, and excellent company (including yourself!). Full bar menu and drinks available for purchase.

Partners and Friends are welcome!

Come down for a fun session entry is $15 per person and all proceeds go to someone close to the Playfit family who is fighting cancer

What: Come down and join your fellow Playfitters and watch the NBA FINALS GAME 4 on the BIG SCREEN @ The Railway Hotel Windsor, friends/partners and children welcome!

Coffee and other drinks are available for purchase from the bar from 10.30am and food from 11.30am.

PLAYFIT - 3 POINT SHOOTOUT

Sunday 22nd April Playfit 3 Point Shoot Out

The inaugural PLAYFIT 3-POINT SHOOTOUT, open to all Playfit members, will be held Sunday 21st April, 12:15pm SHARP to 1:15pm @ Wesley College Gym.

It will be a direct shoot-out format with a random draw and players at each end of the court shooting it out for their spot in the next round!

Spots are strictly limited to 16 entrants so you must book your place here:

Entry is  $13.99 per person and BOOKINGS CLOSE 7th APRIL 2018 at 4pm

Rules:

Shootouts will be 3 minutes each with 25 shots each from 5 spots at each end as per the NBA 3-point shoot out. 

Each successful shot will be worth 1 point.

The final ball on each rack will be a MONEY BALL worth 2 points.

Players may nominate one rack to be the MONEY RACK with each shot worth two points.

In the event of a Tie a count back will occur with the player who made the most successful shots declared the winner.

All facilitators decisions will be final.

The Incredible Harlem Globetrotters are coming to Melbourne April 14th and Playfit are organising a group ticket deal for our members to come and be part of the show!!

How long have the Globetrotters been around?

Founded in 1926 by Abe Saperstein, the Harlem Globetrotters played their first-ever road game on Jan. 7, 1927, in Hinckley, Illinois.  From the 1920s until his death in 1966, Saperstein was the greatest promoter in all of sports, making the Globetrotters into a championship team and global icons. The Globetrotters have become the world's home team, synonymous with family entertainment and great basketball skills. 

Have the Globetrotters ever lost a game?

Yes. In fact, the Globetrotters have lost 345 games over the course of nine decades.  However, with over 26,000 wins, the Globetrotters do own the best winning percentage (.987) in the history of professional sports.

Are the exhibition games real basketball?

They are real basketball games. The Harlem Globetrotters and their opponents both play to win, but the Globetrotters do mix in their signature style of show basketball that will entertain fans of all ages.

Where are Marques Haynes, Meadowlark Lemon, Curly Neal, Goose Tatum and Sweet Lou Dunbar?

In 1998, Marques Haynes was the first player ever to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a Globetrotter. Haynes passed away in May 2015. Meadowlark Lemon, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2003, passed away in December 2015. Curly Neal, who in February 2008 became just the fifth Globetrotter to ever have his jersey retired, is a motivational speaker and still makes public appearances for the Globetrotters. Goose Tatum passed away in the late 1960s, and he was posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame in August 2011. Sweet Lou Dunbar is the Globetrotters’ director of player personnel and a coach, sharing 40 years of Globetrotter experience with a new generation of players.

Playfit’s Beachside Chill Out!

  • Playfit’s Beachside Chill Out! Our next event is being held at the West Beach Bathers Pavilion in St Kilda on Sunday the 28th of February. It’s the most beautiful position right on the water where dogs, children and any others will be welcome to join. It will be a relaxing evening kicking off at 6:30pm where we can sit by the bay, enjoy a drink, the amazing view and some great company. We’ve pre-organised the weather to be spectacular that day so don’t miss out! We will send out more details in the coming weeks :)
